Huonfels Australian Stock Horses

Huonfels Australian Stock Horse is run by Melissa Bethel on the family property Huonfels Station which is located 48 km northwest of Georgetown in North Queensland. It was founded in 2000 with the purchase of a 1994 brown mare by the name of Shaneil Coolcharm Quest from Neil and Sharon Diery of Shaneil ASH Stud.

This mare went on to achieve great success in the campdrafting arena winning 5 open campdrafts, numerous juveniles and ladies as well as being a finalist in the 2006 Canning Downs Campdraft after achieving the equal 2nd top score in the second round (88). Quest was to be become the foundation mare of our stud unfortunately only breeding one foal, Huonfels Coolcharm Cupid, before being put down in 2007 due to colic. Cupid now stands as our resident sire and we are eagerly awaiting his first crop of foals.

At Huonfels we aim to breed tough horses with bone, conformation and ability along with that wonderful ASH temperament. As our property is a working stud and commercial cattle enterprise, our horses are required to work long hours during the week and be intelligent and athletic enough to compete in campdrafting on the weekends.

The whole Bethel family has had many years of enjoyment working and competing on Huonfels Stock Horses and we are delighted to take this opportunity to share our horses with you. We are always happy to receive visitors and welcome any enquiries about horses that we may have for sale.
